A. George Hartman is being interviewed on the subject Folklore in the Great Depression. The interviewer is Sherman Dolman whom is asking the questions on October 17, 1938 on 3030 W St. George a 75 year old, caucasion man who worked as a blacksmith and painter. George went through some hard times but yet some easy as well. He lived in the time where railraods started coming out and when there was a telegraph. Apparently there was also a lot of hunting game. George says that 25 birds a day would die bye hitting the telegraph wire. However he also lived in some extremley difficult times aswell. He says, "The worst depression, was in the late seventies. Far worse than the present. We lived on sorgum and corn-meal. Clothes sent from the east and we went barefooted most of the time. Grasshoppers caused this great depression." In my opinion, George Hartman sounds like a nice guy with his head on straight. From what I heard, I think he did a good job handeling himself in this terrible time. I think he made the most of what he had. George made a good impression on me.
